Job Description:
Programmer, Assistant Engineer, Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer & Others
Programmer:
B.E. / B. Tech. (Computer Science/ Engineering or Information Technology)/ MCA / �B� or �C� Level of
NIELIT. OR
Master�s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology (having Mathematics as a subject in
Graduation).
Assistant Town Planner:
Master of Planning / M. Tech. / Post Graduate Degree in Urban Planning or City Planning or Town
Planning or Regional Planning or Housing Planning or Country Planning or Rural Planning or
Infrastructure Planning or Transport Planning or Rural & Urban Planning or Environmental Planning or
its equivalent from a recognized University or an Institute duly recognized by the All India Institute
of Town Planners, India. OR
Bachelor of Planning or Bachelor of Technology in Planning from a University or an Institute duly
recognized by the All India Institute of Town Planners, India. AND
Minimum three years experience in Urban Planning or City Planning or Town Planning or Regional
Planning or Housing Planning or Country Planning or Rural Planning or Infrastructure Planning or
Transport Planning or Rural & Urban Planning or Environmental Planning in the Central Government or
State Government Department after acquiring the qualification of Bachelor of Planning or B. Tech.
degree in Planning.
Assistant Engineer: Must possess a degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from an
Institution/ University duly recognized by the Central/ State Government.
Assistant Professor (Architecture):
Bachelor�s Degree and Master�s Degree in Architecture with first Class or equivalent either in
Bachelor�s or Master�s degree.
Lecturer (Computer Engineering) (Polytechnic): 1st Class Bachelor�s Degree in Computer
Engineering or Computer Science & Engineering from a recognized University or from an Institution
duly recognized by H.P. Government/ Central Government.
Lecturer(Polytechnic): First Class Bachelor�s Degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/
Technology or equivalent.
Lecturer, Applied Sciences & Humanities (Polytechnic): 1st Class Master�s Degree in appropriate
subject viz., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or English from a recognized University.
Workshop Superintendent (Polytechnic): Bachelor�s Degree in Mechanical/ Auto Engineering with
first class or equivalent. If the candidates have a Master�s Degree in Mechanical/ Auto Engineering/
Technology, first Class or equivalent is required at Bachelor�s or Master�s level.
Age limit(As on 01.01.2018): 18 to 45 years.
Relaxation in upper Age limit: 5 years relaxation in upper age limit is admissible only to the
bonafide SC of H.P. / ST of H.P. / OBC of H.P. /WFF of H.P. / Persons with disabilities of Himachal
Pradesh.

HPPSC Recruitment Selection process:
The selection process is based on Screening Test/ Examination/ Personality Test/ Final Selection.
The Commission may limit/shortlist the number of eligible candidates to be called for personality
test(s) by subjecting them to a screening test (objective-type / descriptive) of two hours
duration.
Marks obtained in the Screening Test are only meant to shortlist the number of candidates for
personality test(s) and are in no way to be presumed by the candidates as being their merit for
final selection.
Final selection of a candidate will be made solely on the basis of his/ her performance in the
Personality Test, which will be of maximum 100 marks.
There will be negative marking for incorrect answer for every question and one fourth (0.25) of the
marks assigned to that question, will be deducted as penalty.
Minimum Pass marks: (Personality test)
45 marks for general category
35 marks for reserved categories.

Ex-Servicemen of H.P/Visually Impaired of H.P.: No Fee
