Software Engineer in Testing
Identification and qualification of opportunities to improve testing activities through the
application of tools.
This role is for a Key Automation expert to work with the QEA Data warehousing team in
Barclaycard division.
Analysis design and implementation of test automation solutions, structured handover of
automation products to test teams and subsequent support for defects and maintenance.
Candidate Profile
The role holder will have to contribute technical project delivery in DWH & Hadoop space.
The role holder will contribute for building automation framework for data warehouse team and work
on various automation initiatives in Hadoop technologies.
Participate in requirement analysis, static testing and define test strategy or the project in hand.
Mentors his peers/team members on the test techniques and ideas in line with system under test.
Participate in test estimations for project.
Facilitate re-use of test artefacts for the project or come up with relevant new artefacts to suit
the need.
Help Identify project risk and dependencies and act accordingly.
Actively collaborate with the larger IT community to share subject matter expertise and innovation.
To develop and review test code and contribute to creation of testing strategies to validate large-
scale software development and deployments.
Pair/Partner with developers to embed quality into product development by reviewing unit and
integration tests.
Contribute to development of automation strategies and implement the same for API and ETL
testing.
Individual having relevant years of experience in data warehousing or ETL with at-least Minimum
years of automation experience on ETL or Hadoop platform building tools for data warehouse, data
mining & Business Intelligence.
Hands on experience with Informatica, Ab Initio, Mainframes, Teradata, Oracle.
Well versed with Agile project delivery & exposure to JIRA along with other Agile tools.
Essential Skills:
Ab Initio, Informatica ETL tools.
Mainframe � OMVS, JCL, DB2, REXX.
The person should have strong knowledge in SQL and UNIX.
Bigdata technologies � HDFS, HIVE, MongoDB, Flume, Scoop, Oozie.
Unix / Python /Perl scripting / JAVA programming skills.
RDBMS Databases (ex: Teradata, Oracle).
Added advantage to have exposure with GH, SOAP UI, Scoop, SAS, , Ab Initio meta programming,
Spark & Scala, automation framework development with Selenium or UFT.
Exposure to Banking projects � Card life cycle & payment processing is added advantage.
Desirable Skills:
Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn new business domains and processes.
Proven ability to multi-task, be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team
environment, in a high pressured environment with changing priorities.
Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
Good team player and self-motivated.
Adaptable and able to pick up new technologies.
High attention to detail and quality of work.
Able to create clear technical specifications from business requirements.
